Last updated: 24 أكتوبر 2026

Safety and dignity of women and children, with confidential handling of GBV cases.

Purpose

Altigana commits to protecting everyone it works with from harm, exploitation and abuse, especially women, girls, children, displaced people and persons with disabilities. This policy binds all staff, volunteers and partners.

Scope

  • All staff, volunteers, consultants and board members.
  • Partners, contractors and service providers acting on behalf of the organization.
  • All activities, locations and digital platforms of the organization.

Principles

  • The safety and best interests of the affected person come first in every decision.
  • Confidentiality: information is shared only on a need-to-know basis and, where possible, with the survivor's consent.
  • Non-discrimination and zero tolerance for abuse.
  • A survivor-centred approach that respects people's choices.

Procedures

  • Background checks before hiring and a signed Code of Conduct.
  • Regular training on safeguarding and responding to disclosures.
  • Safe reporting channels; every report is referred to the Safeguarding Focal Point within 24 hours.
  • Referral of survivors to available health, psychosocial and legal services.
  • Confidential investigation of every report, with disciplinary action up to dismissal and referral to authorities.

Review

The policy is reviewed annually or when the operating context changes.
